Competitions
CyberPatriots
Learn about your everyday operating systems such as Windows and Linux. Learn to use command line and terminal as well as the GUI of your OS. Learn to secure computers and fix common problems such as viruses and slow computers. Later you will also learn forensics, networking and much more. We made it to national finals last year and got an all-expenses paid trip to Washington DC. No prior knowledge required. Fridays 3-4 pm upstairs engineering lab.
Zero Robotics
A relatively new competition by MIT. We made it to national finals last year. It's a very interesting club that involves Math and physics and programming. Our challenge is to program satellites to take pictures of specific spots on an asteroid. If we make it to finals again our code will be uploaded to little robots in the space station for real. No prior knowledge required. Fridays 4-5pm upstairs engineering lab
PicoCTF
More of a capture the flag, hacking sort competition by Carnegie Melon University. If you want to learn to break things and explore the inner workings of the things you break, this is the club for you. Our team made it to level three out of four levels, only three or four other teams made it to level four, so we did pretty well. No prior knowledge required.
